Life Is A Journey

Start to face the truth and take note that every moment is an opportunity to create a new reality.

If you are looking for enlightenment, you may ask yourself where do I begin There is only one place you can start your journey of enlightenment, and that is your life's journey.

A place you could start is where you are right now. Let's start with the knowledge that you already know the answers you are seeking, you are simply pretending that you do not know or that you have forgotten. First you must start to understand the apparent paradox that you are alone on your journey, and yet you are at one with everything and everyone else in the universe. You need to acknowledge that you are a divine being, a part of all that is.

Know that all that has gone in your life before this moment has brought you to where you are right now, that there is a purpose for everything that happens. Rejoice in every obstacle you are faced with in your lifetime, and that it is both a gift and an opportunity. This has certainly enabled you to grow.

Remember that the only thing that stands between you and fulfillment of your heart's desires is your own fears. Start to face the truth and take note that every moment is an opportunity to create a new reality, NOW, and in every moment of your life. Base this on the unlimited possibilities of what can be, not on your fears of what has happened in your past.

Start to understand that your successes and your happiness is limited, only by what you believe is possible. The range of possibilities are only restricted by limited human understanding. Trust the universe, it will show you the answers when you are open to receive them.

Now perhaps some of these ideas are new to you, perhaps you want to reject them as nonsense or as impossible, that is your right. You don't have to accept anything in life or what I say. You have your own free will to reject or accept that there might be something in these ideas, even if it is not clear, right now, what or how or why.

As you continue your journey of enlightenment and self-discovery you may find some things that made no sense at the time, might then begin to seem possible and perhaps even probable. What is important is that you apply yourself with an open mind and an open heart. Rejecting everything that is out of your hands just because it does not make sense will not lead to spiritual understanding.

Everyone's path is different, so do not assume that what works for someone else will necessarily work for you, or vice versa.

You need to find for yourself those things that work for you and those that do not. You will also find the speed of your journey and the timing of events in everyone's lives will vary. It's important not to give yourself a hard time just because events are not happening as quickly as you would like or that your experiences are different from someone else's.

Spiritual awakening is about understanding your higher consciousness. It means letting go of old beliefs and fears, releasing old ways of being, and doing and thinking in ways in which you feel comfortable. It means accepting responsibility for your life and accepting the power you have. This means not placing your power over others but using that power on yourself.

The mind can be a barrier to spiritual enlightenment. You should experience your life, not contemplate it. You need to look deep within yourself to find those things that are keeping you in the past. You will need to face up to your fears before you can let go and move on.

It will certainly get uncomfortable at times but remember there is no growth without risk and enlightenment can not work without growth, love, trust, understanding and compassion. You are perfect just the way you are although if you wish to grow in love and light you need to be prepared to place yourself into situations that will take you to the limits and you may feel uncomfortable.

The fact is that they are only uncomfortable to you, no one else. There may be times when you need to face up to some unpleasant truths. You have nothing to gain by trying to deceive yourself or others. When you take the easy options it will not lead to growth and enlightenment. So are you ready to take the risk and to take yourself on There are no teachers; you are your own teacher. Just as you would learn from a teacher you learn from yourself. The two go hand in hand, just as the only way you can receive is for you to give, the only way to be loved is to give love back, and the only way to be forgiven is for you to forgive.

The most important thing to remember is to love, respect, and honour and forgive ourselves as well as others. This is a journey so enjoy the travelling and don't forget to smell the roses on the way.

Risking It All

To have hope you must take risks. To have hope you must take action. To have any outcome worthwhile you must take risks.

When you really think about it, our every action is at risk because there aren't any guarantees. What I've learned is that the more risks you take, no matter how small, you'll accumulate enough faith in yourself to plow through most challenges life offers every single day!

Okay. Let's talk about risk. You will risk an awful lot to act on the things that are most important to you. If someone you love were drowning, you might risk your life to save him or her. Or if you believe strongly in justice, you might risk ridicule to stand up for someone who is being treated unfairly. All risks,…reaching out, testing yourself, trying new things, accepting challenges- involve putting your values on the line.

Sometimes the greatest risk may not be climbing the steepest mountain or sailing around the world, alone. It may be more risky to tell someone you care about that you are lonely, or to say, I'm sorry. There are many kinds of risks in life,….emotional, intellectual and physical. The IMPORTANT ones are those that help you grow and express your values.

The following examples I've compiled are risks we should learn to take in order to challenge ourselves and discover who we really are. For example

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool. (so what!)

To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. (do it anyway!)

To reach out for another is to risk involvement. (Go for it!)

To expose feelings is to risk rejection. (Know where you stand!)

To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk ridicule. (Who cares Its' your life!)

To love is to risk not being loved in return. (Its' a two way street!)

To live is to risk dying. (Its' inevitable!)

To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure. (Can you imagine if all the great leaders didn't)

PLEASE REMEMBER that risks must be taken because the greatest tragedy in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing to look forward to, therefore is nothing. Oh yeah,…you may avoid
some suffering and sorrow, but you can't learn, feel, change, grow or love.

ONLY a person who risks is free!!!

You Won't Understand

Often people say to me You just won't understand.
You're way too old, or Way too young, or YOU are NOT a man.

I don't know why some people feel they suffer unique pain.
As if they are the only ones who've lost or ceased to gain.
I don't know why they hide their pain and clutch it ever tighter.
It seems to me that all should know - a burden shared gets lighter.

Why some folks even deign to think the pain that's in their heart,
Is all their own, to keep and hoard, they set themselves apart.
They keep their eyes from meeting mine
lest I should see their hurt.
And even if we stop and speak their words are often curt.

The Bible says 'Two' can withstand what overcomes just 'one'.
And also that- a 'Cord of Three' can scarcely be undone.

Besides, I know the ways of hurt- My heart's been crushed before.
Friends have betrayed- I've lost at love,
Despair's knocked at my door.

And I Remember- Thoughts gone wild- And crying late at night.
Not having strength to care at all- Much less the strength to fight.
But, someone special came to me- And when my trials were told.
I realized that with their tears- They'd eased my heavy load.

And so, I learned- that Pain- like Love- Is bearable if shared.
I don't know what I would have done without that friend who cared.

My trials did not vanish fast- In fact the time was long.
But sharing gave me breathing space until I could grow strong
Enough to laugh again and even start to smile-
And though it seemed it could not help- It eased my pain awhile.

So, if you think that you can't share cause I won't understand.
At least just give me half a chance to lend a helping hand.
For I know that you're hurting and I know a place to start.
Perhaps if you could realize- Your pain burns in my heart.

I know I cannot make your trials and troubles go away.
But maybe I can help a bit to get you through today.
And maybe by tomorrow you wont need help anymore.
But if you should- Don't be ashamed-
For that's what friends are for.

And after all is said and done- The trials ceased- You're whole.
Perhaps you'll know just what to do to help another soul-
Who's being crushed by hurt and pain- be it woman or a man.
And you won't have to hear them say You just won't understand.

Two Days Without Worry

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is Yesterday with all its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains.

Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday.

We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone forever.

The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with all its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and its poor performance; Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.

Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise.
Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet to be born.

This leaves only one day, Today. Any person can fight the battle of just one day.
It is when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities, Yesterday and Tomorrow that we break down.

It is not the experience of Today that drives a person mad, it is the remorse or bitterness of something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring.

Let us, therefore, Live but one day at a time.

Life

Life + Love = Happy
Life - Love = Sad

Adding above 2,

Life + Love = Happy
Life - Love = Sad
---------------------
2Life = Happy + Sad

so,

Life = 1/2 Happy + 1/2 Sad.

That's life...

Five More Minutes

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground. That's my son over there, she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

He's a fine looking boy, the man said. That's my son on the swing in the blue sweater. Then, looking at his watch, he called to his son. What do you say we go, Todd

Todd pleaded, Just five more minutes, Dad. Please Just five more minutes. The man nodded and Todd continued to swing to his heart's content.

Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his son. Time to go now Again Todd pleaded, Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.

The man smiled and said, O.K.

My, you certainly are a patient father, the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, My older son Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I'd give anything for just five more minutes with him. I've vowed not to make the same mistake with Todd. He thinks he has five more minutes to swing. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch him play.

Life is all about making priorities, what are your priorities?

I'm Not Old... Just Mature

Today at the drugstore, the clerk was a gent.
From my purchase this chap took off ten percent.
I asked for the cause of a lesser amount;
And he answered, Because of the Seniors Discount.

I went to McDonald's for a burger and fries;
And there, once again, got quite a surprise.
The clerk poured some coffee which he handed to me.
He said, For you, Seniors, the coffee is free.

Understand---I'm not old---I'm merely mature;
But some things are changing, temporarily, I'm sure.
The newspaper print gets smaller each day,
And people speak softer---can't hear what they say.

My teeth are my own (I have the receipt.),
and my glasses identify people I meet.
Oh, I've slowed down a bit...not a lot, I am sure.
You see, I'm not old...I'm only mature.

The gold in my hair has been bleached by the sun.
You should see all the damage that chlorine has done.
Washing my hair has turned it all white,
But don't call it gray...saying blond is just right.

My car is all paid for...not a nickel is owed.
Yet a kid yells, Old duffer...get off of the road!
My car has no scratches...not even a dent.
Still I get all that guff from a punk who's Hell bent.

My friends all get older...much faster than me.
They seem much more wrinkled, from what I can see.
I've got character lines, not wrinkles...for sure,
But don't call me old...just call me mature.

The steps in the houses they're building today
Are so high that they take...your breath all away;
And the streets are much steeper than ten years ago.
That should explain why my walking is slow.

But I'm keeping up on what's hip and what's new,
And I think I can still dance a mean boogaloo.
I'm still in the running...in this I'm secure,
I'm not really old...I'm only mature.
